A great day outside (weather wise) on Saturday called for a great outfit. The light weight linen shirt and oxford cloth pants paired with a chambray tie in a subtle floral print kept me cool. An almost monochromatic outfit with cognac wingtips and matching belt to contrast the blues.

I recently  added  a pair of light grey New balance 1400 sneakers and a rubber case from J.Crew to my arsenal and began to realize that my most favorite items, the ones I pick out to wear and carry with me time and time again, are examples of my personal style being refined. It will be interesting to see how much these outfit grids will change or stay the same over the next few years. Enjoy.

I have recently gained an appreciation for outfit grid pictures and decided to try my own hand at it. It’s cool to see all that goes into a day in the life of myself before it really even starts! I hope you all enjoy these as much as I do!

“Fit”

January 11, 2013 § Leave a Comment

A simple three letter word that makes all the difference in ones style, allowing for a clear separation between the sartorial and ignorant. The fit of one’s clothing should be comfortable, and allow for natural range of motion without resistance or strain on the garment.  With that said,  comfortability is not synonymous with sloppiness.  Sweatpants, sweatshirts, and sneakers often seen as comfort clothes can be integrated into an outfit and still look well put together; as long as they FIT properly.

I have begun to realize that personalized service or customized product in medical treatment and sporting equipment is becoming increasingly prevalent, and profitable.  Not everyone is the same! So garments specifically tailored to a customer are the next logical step in the clothing industry, and is already in full effect by some companies.  More people are starting to care about how they look; the misconception is that it takes a lot of effort to do.  It is much easier to do with versatile, timeless, staple pieces and some creativity. Custom made clothing is the evolutionary direction that menswear is headed.

There is a special bond one makes with something, when that object is made specifically for that individual.  That piece of clothing that says ” This is unique to me. No one else’s is quite like it because I live in this.”  A prime example of  this, Custom fit Jeans.  Here is a Complex.com video that got me thinking about Fit, customization, and how pivotal it is for one’s personal style.

The Details

What is an outfit without the details to sum up the total?  Here’s a couple of more shots from our Summer shoot, the other week…

Right before our eyes, and, I think, before anyone is ready for it, the Summer is slipping away.  We decided that we needed to get some looks up, before the season ended, and we start getting ready for Fall.  Maybe the steeziest time of the year, when layering is a necessity, but you don’t have to throw a cumbersome coat on top of everything.  In digression; there’s definitely something magical about this period of late Summer.  The long evenings, and the kind of outdoor feel that just makes one want to linger outside, and take a stroll, or have an ice cream, or fall in love.  Or just kick it with an old friend, and have fun taking pictures, in Georgetown, while people look at you sideways, and question your apparently extremely high levels of narcism.  And that is exactly what we did.  Enjoy.

Street Sightings

As Rashan and I walked down M Street towards the end of our Georgetown photo opp, we spotted this individual below and she looked so cool in a natural and effortless kind of way!  I used this opportunity to snap a pic of her (with her permission of course) and she definitely deserves a spotlight on PS.
